People’s Opinions

  1. Taxi rides are 2 Yuan up and down the main road. No matter where you get out or in, the price is the same. We mostly walked, but a few times there was unexpected rain. The town is small and doesn’t take too long to walk the whole main strip.

People’s Opinions

  1. There are 3 really cool things to do for adventure days. 1st if your team is staying in the apartment look out of the kitchen window and look at the tallest mountain peak. Our team hiked up that for our first adventure day. It looks really hard but it’s not bad. We thought it was going to take a long time but it only took us about 3 hours round trip!2nd while you are on top of the mountain peak look across and you will see a large plateau with cool ruins in the middle of it. Once again if your team is staying in the apartment look out of the living room windows and the mountain that it right out side of there is where our team started to hike up at. You can go up there and climb on the ruins and if your lucky you’ll run into some herds of sheep and horses. And last but not least, 3rd, your team may do some ministry in the monastery but when you have some free time walk all the way through it and just keep going till you see open farm land. Once you get out there look off to your right and you will see come caves dug into the side of the mountains. Our team went and explored them and had a great time. Xiahe is a place where you have to get creative on adventure days so just get out there and explore.

  1. The guys on our team met a guy named Dorjee about half way through the month. He is a young man that is working in a hotel restaurant and is hoping to start going to school soon. We would just go sit in his restaurant and have milk tea and talk with him. He invited us to his parents house (which is in the same apartment complex as the apartment that you will most likely be staying in) and we had snacks with them and had great conversation. I would recommend that mostly guys minister to him because he is a young man and get distracted easily when females are around. Another thing we would do is go play pool with him late at night. Great time to have some qt.
